I grew up on the southeastern shores of Lake Erie in both New York and Pennsylvania, and made extended stays in Chile then Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and most recently a blip in Baton Rouge.  My wife and I are on our way back to the New Orleans, a place that we consider home because of all our great friends that have become family.  I’m an EOD (equal opportunity drinker) but my main interests lie in those hoppy suds that pour from craft brewers around America and wonderful breweries around the world.  I’ve been a homebrewer for about 8 years now and I’ll share my adventures here as they happen.

I have claimed the name of Beersquatch due to my genetic proclivity towards furriness and my past skill fondness for clobbering those who mess with my brews and booze.

Relationships with some wonderful beer writers (big props to the Beer Buddha and the Beer Wench) have inspired me to roll out on my own and put myself to the test.  I hope that you all enjoy the results.  I took a bit of an extended leave, but I hope that that won’t happen again.

I would like to make it very clear that I endorse drinking, if you can handle yourself.  Not everyone can.  Some of my favorite people in the world don’t drink (or don’t drink anymore), and I respect that greatly.  Everyone makes their own decisions, but let it be known that I hope that you all aim to be responsible when you drink.  Don’t drive when you are impaired, and don’t forget to tip a good bartender well.

My reviews may be a bit unorthodox, but I aim to make them helpful to you all.  I’m not being paid for this, so it is all about the love of the booze.   This path may be rocky, but I aim to enlighten you on what makes me beergasm, not to brag about beer knowledge.  I am learning constantly, but am by no means an expert.  Unless you are a novice, and in that case, pull up a stool young padawan.   This blog may become a dangerous expedition, so wish me well.  If I go missing, send a case of brew in after me and call my momma.

If you would like something in particular reviewed, let me know.  If it’s available locally, I surely will, but if it isn’t you can always send me some of it and I’ll get a review up.

I’m pouring and you should be too!
